Bausch & Lomb Area 8 Outgoing Loading Bay

The new building was interconnected with two existing buildings to allow the flow of personnel and materials on the site.

The core function of the building is contact lens manufacturing. This is in a large clean room. This was handed over to the client on a phased basis to facilitate the installation of manufacturing equipment.

The materials handling is critical to the operations of the building. These areas included as follows:

  • Link corridor

  • Incoming loading bays

  • Outgoing loading bay

  • Packaging

  • Bonded Warehouse

  • Outgoing loading bay

  • Storage areas

Area 8 was devised to significantly increase production capacity on the existing site in Waterford. Bausch & Lomb, a division of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, is a worldwide leader in eye healthcare products.

Synergy Engineering Ltd provided design for the Mechanical, Electrical and Sprinkler services including modifications and connections to the existing site infrastructure.

The project broadly consists of staff facilities, a large clean room and product handling areas. Significant plant and technical spaces are associated with a building of this nature.

Incoming Loading Bay

The project started construction in mid-2015 and was completed in Q2 of 2017. The LEED accreditation has been submitted to US Green Building Council for final approval.

Chiller Installation

The staff facilities consisted of:

  • Entrance for employees

  • Toilets & changing rooms

  • Meeting room

  • Canteen with kitchen
